BBC World Service has aired “Heart and Soul: My journey beyond death,” an open-minded radio documentary on Near-Death Experiences. It features David Ditchfield, who had a profound NDE after a dramatic train accident, and Gigi Strehler, who founded the organization Near Death Experience UK after her experience. She describes her NDE as “having been reborn”.
The program also interviews spiritual psychologist Steve Taylor, who studies NDEs among former addicts, war veterans, prisoners and the very sick. He said:
“An NDE is so much more intense and real than ordinary awareness, so after that, your vision of reality is forever changed”.
The documentary is open about the inconclusiveness of materialist explanations.
“In recent years, the taboo has waned”, Steve Taylor said.
